POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides legal assistance to attorneys representing the Company by conducting legal research, analyzing law sources and providing legal support in collection matters, violations of non-compete/solicitation agreements, bankruptcy issues and litigation.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
♦ Obtains data from service centers regarding outstanding debts and drafts collection demand letters to appropriate parties. Suggests small claims court or national collections for follow-through of outstanding debts.
♦ Provides legal support and assistance to service centers on matters such as customer complaints, payroll fraud, employee fraud, garnishment issues, intellectual property, trade name violations and responses to subpoenas and interrogatories.
♦ Remains cognizant of legislation affecting lien rights and assists service centers in compliance. Reviews and prepares written summaries of regulations or legislative bills.
♦ Drafts cease and desist letters to former employees who are in violation of non-compete/non-solicitation agreements. Works with the service centers to obtain solutions to these problems by contacting in-house counsel for additional assistance or directing them to outside counsel for possible litigation.
♦ Works closely with national Attorney General offices and ARS-Rescue Rooter service centers to obtain solutions regarding customer complaints.
♦ Assists attorneys with complex research.
♦ Coordinates litigation with outside counsel.
♦ Performs record management by creating folders, filing and updating information as needed.
♦ Communicates with customers, vendors and departmental personnel via telephone, email and written correspondence to answer inquiries and provide information.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
An Associate’s degree in Paralegal studies is required with paralegal certificate/licensure. A Bachelor’s degree and 4-6 years of related corporate paralegal experience are desired. Related experience and/or advanced training or any equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. Must be computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office products and litigation database programs.
