POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides planning and management in the safe and efficient installation of plumbing and HVAC systems and provision of construction services in residential or commercial new construction settings. Utilizes human resources effectively to manage workload and job costs, achieve production and margin objectives and provide quality services to builders and contractors.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
♦ Manages and develops the New Construction staff, which includes hiring, terminating and disciplining of employees, scheduling employees, setting work priorities, conducting staff meetings, counseling and training employees, evaluating performance and directing work assignments to ensure effective production.
♦ Provides pricing estimates to residential or commercial contractors.
♦ Provides project management, forecasts labor needs and maintains cost analyses.
♦ Establishes and maintains departmental operating policies and procedures and budgets.
♦ Interfaces with builders, contractors, architects, building inspectors and project managers to identify service needs and maintain good customer relations.
♦ Monitors material usage for new construction jobs, verifies work orders and reviews purchase orders to ensure accuracy.
♦ Coordinates start-up and warranty calls to ensure optimum use of manpower.
♦ Oversees new job set-ups to ensure that all associated costs were incorporated into the estimate.
♦ Resolves customer issues and complaints to ensure customer satisfaction.
♦ Ensures that materials and equipment are ordered and dispensed for scheduled jobs. Oversees general inventory control.
♦ Oversees billing for the department and assists in collecting accounts receivable from builders.
♦ Drives to job sites to monitor production and efficiency of technicians and monitor quality control.
♦ Performs walk through inspections with customers and contractors.
♦ Instructs crews on proper use of materials and quality workmanship. Stays in touch with installation crews to assist with unexpected needs.
♦ Ensures appropriate licenses and/or permits are obtained for the work site.
♦ Reviews payroll records to ensure that technicians are paid properly.
♦ Ensures that employees have proper tools for the job and that they are properly maintained.
♦ May manage a sales staff and approve pricing for sales. Meets with sale staff to answer scheduling and layout questions and to provide support in pricing jobs. May price and write contracts for new construction installations.
♦ Oversees facility and equipment maintenance, ensuring that assets are protected and controlled.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
A High School diploma or general education degree (GED) equivalent is required with 6-8 years of experience in new construction. Related experience and/or advanced training or any equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. Knowledge of local and national construction codes is required. A valid driver’s license is required. Must possess a working knowledge of general industry standards and strong supervisory, computer and mathematical skills. Strong communications and human relations skills are also required.
