POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides skilled planning and management to a department involved in installation, troubleshooting, maintenance and service of electrical systems to commercial and/or residential customers. Utilizes human resources effectively to manage workload and achieve profit objectives.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Manages and develops the Electrical Department staff, which includes hiring, terminating and disciplining of employees, scheduling employees, setting work priorities, conducting staff meetings, counseling and training employees, evaluating performance and directing work assignments to ensure effective departmental operation.
  • Works in the dispatch operation and assigns specific jobs to personnel to ensure that all jobs are assigned and handled in a responsive manner. Outlines and explains work to be done.
  • Monitors and maintains performance statistics for the department by tracking numbers of calls, time spent on the job and profit per job.
  • Estimates material and labor costs for jobs for technicians.
  • Assists the service staff in troubleshooting problem jobs and maintains communications to ensure that all electrical installations are accurate, serviceable and meet code parameters.
  • Provides customer assistance and responds to customer inquiries.
  • Provides cost estimates for commercial electrical services.
  • Interprets blueprints and specifications to determine electrical requirements for construction and calculates materials needed.
  • Conducts inspections, as needed, to ensure compliance of electrical codes.
  • Prepares and maintains departmental reports and required documentation.
  • Coordinates on-the-job training for Electrical Service Technicians and Apprentice Helpers.
  • Observes all safety and Company rules and regulations in the performance of duties.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

A High School diploma or general education degree (GED) is required as well as a Georgia state Journeyman’s License or Master’s Electrical License. Related experience and/or advanced training or any equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.  Must have a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in residential/commercial electrical design. A valid driver’s license is required as are good communications and human relations skills.
