At over $850 million in annual revenue, American Residential Services (ARS) is one of the nation's largest Plumbing and Heating -Air Conditioning service providers. We are currently experiencing tremendous growth, and are seeking an Accounting/Payroll Specialist to expand our dynamic accounting team in our office located San Jose, California.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides accounting and payroll support to our Accounting Department for effective handling of financial and payroll record operations.

Job Duties include:

  • Daily processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Assist Controller with month end reconciliation, job costing, purchase orders, work orders and change orders.
  • Maintains and reconcile petty cash accounts, checkbook, GL and Journal entries.
  • Perform customer credit checks, set up new customer accounts, and update customer information.
  • Monitor AR aging and perform collection calls as needed.
  • Set up new vendors and subcontractors.
  • Accurately prepare and process weekly payroll for hourly employees and sales commission based employees.
  • Process paperwork for new hires including background checks, drug test and direct deposit forms.
  • Process paperwork for employee terminations including calculating final payments.
  • Handle customer complaints and coordinate with project coordinator to ensure customer satisfaction by pulling city permits, scheduling city inspections and requesting certificates of insurance.
  • Investigate and resolve customer billing concerns and respond to customer inquiries.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • HS diploma or GED equivalent and 4-6 years of experience in accounting is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Familiarity with accounting principles and practices.
  • Computer literacy and 10-key skills.
  • Ability to create and interpret spreadsheets.
