Job Description

Assists in installation of electrical systems to residential and/or commercial customers. Also, may include some troubleshooting, maintenance and service of electrical systems. Maintains good customer relations and applies technical skills and a general knowledge of industry standards and government regulations to all work.

♦ Keeps superintendents and/or supervisors informed of job progress as well as any problems.
♦ Locates and diagnoses electrical system problems using test equipment.
♦ Reviews blueprints to install, inspect, repair, wire and maintain a variety of electrical systems and equipment to include main electric panel boxes, receptacles, lighting fixtures, switches, under-counter lights, sprinkler systems, conduit or metal flex and appliances.
♦ Installs and maintains low and high voltage (120-480 volts) distribution.
♦ Responds to emergencies and/or service calls and troubleshoots malfunctioning equipment to determine the nature of the problem. Troubleshoots more complex electrical problems.
♦ Ensures that all electrical installations are accurate, serviceable and meet code parameters.
♦ Ensures that materials used and workmanship meets the requirements of applicable technical and safety standards and will pass inspection.
♦ Provides a description of diagnosed problems to customer in terms that can be understood.
♦ Labels all circuits and new panel installation.
♦ Completes all required documentation on services and collects/records fees for delivery to the office.
♦ Interprets blueprints and specifications to determine electrical requirements for construction and calculates materials needed. Provides cost estimates for residential and some commercial electrical services. May provide support for HVAC department in electrical installations.

Job Requirements

Must be able to perform HEAVY work to include, but not limited to the following with or without reasonable accommodation:
♦ Must be able to work in a variety of spaces to include crawl spaces, rafters, attics, roofs, etc to perform installations.
♦ Must be able to work, move, and lift or carry heavy objects of 60-100 lbs or more to include wire reels and materials.
♦ Must be able to climb ladders, work overhead, manipulate and maneuver tools
♦ Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing and pulling required.

Work may be performed in areas of exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, and risk of electrical shock. There may be exposure to outside weather conditions, extreme cold or heat and loud noises.
